Chris Duhon has loved the game of basketball his entire life and is famous for sleeping with a ball on nights before games. Born on August 31, 1982 to Vivian Harper, Duhon was raised in Slidell, Louisiana with his younger brother, Thomas. A graduate from Duke University with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a Markets and Management Certificate, Duhon achieved his status on the hardwood.

Duhon averaged 8.8 points on .418 shooting and added 5.7 assists per game in a standout, four-year career at Duke. Duhon is the only player in ACC history to record 1000 points, 800 assists, 475 rebounds, 300 steals and 125 three-point field goals. He helped lead the Blue Devils to three ACC Championships, two Final Fours and to the NCAA Championship in his 2000-01 freshman season.

During his tenure, Duke compiled an impressive 123-21 record. As a senior, Duhon was a finalist for the Wooden, Naismith and Rupp Player of the Year awards.

On June 24th, 2004 the Chicago Bulls selected Chris Duhon with the 38th overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft. He entered the NBA as one of few prospects with four years of NCAA experience and a college degree. He is known for his tenacious defensive skills and never hesitates to dive for loose balls. His play is unselfish, and his skill set includes impressive ball handling and court vision. He joined the Knicks in 2008 via free agent route after four seasons in Chicago.

On November 29th, 2008 Duhon set a new Knicks single-game record with 22 assists. Chris has also played with the Orlando Magic and currently plays for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Off the court, Duhon has been recognized for his continuous efforts through Chris Duhon’s Stand Tall Foundation where he is currently in the process of refurbishing 21 basketball courts damaged by Hurricane Katrina in his native Louisiana. Duhon was named 2008 Player Rep for the National Book Festival at the White House featured on CNN, along with the 2007 recipient of the NBA Community Assist Award and 2006 Sporting News Good Guy Award winner. Most recently, he was honored with a 2010 Thurman Munson Award for his dedication to the community.
